About the Item
Also a sculptor, Harry Wickey was a master printmaker and Art Students League teacher.
This rural scene pre-dates the much better known, very close subject, John Steuart Curry's lithograph, Stallion and Jack, 1943. Curry's farmer is further removed, at the right -- could almost be overlooked.
The Harry Wickey is signed and annotated '100 proofs,' in pencil. Really this is most likely a 'proposed' edition size because this subject is quite scarce.
